2008 Rewind Part 1

We are back with our yearly round up and although we are a little late this year it is still a classic set of tracks. What was going to be a 2 part series looks like expanding to 3, we will see how it all shakes down. 2008 has sucked in many ways but musically it's been another amazing year of music of all genres and from all over the world. Part 1 of our rewind mix focuses on new music discovered in 2008. As usual we've got jazz, soul, funk, house, hiphop, rock and much much more. Brownswood Basement Hiphop Special

Brownswood Basement has been an ongoing series by Radio One DJ Gilles Peterson who digs through his vaults of records (known as the Brownswood Basement) in North London and produces three to four shows a year where the gems are unearthed and vinyl is the only media permitted. No CDs. No mp3s. Usually the shows are focused on soul, jazz and funk vinyl that costs a pretty penny but last month Gilles opened his collection of hiphop vinyl and blew our minds with an astounding mix of proper hiphop. This is a CLASSIC. Listen to the mix below and check out the bumper 40 song track list. Hit us in the comments section if you want a direct download link.

Check out this little video where Gilles takes you into his basement.
