playjazzloud sessions vol. 60

I've been out of town but back with a fresh selection of jazzy tracks to get your week off to a flyer. I have something first head on The Hedonist show via UK Jazz Radio from Monkeynutz, then Band of Horses covering Cee-Lo's "Georgia," as well as music from Nick Rosen and Carlos Nino. I've been wanting to drop this track from Rio Hunuki-Hemopo from the Fat Freddy's Drop stable for a while and have finally got around to it after tracking down the track for ages! If you haven't checked out the house mix for the MixCloud competition please check it here, also I'll upload the extended full 1:41 mins mix later this week. Lastly the playjazzloud sessions is dropping on the internet airways via Radio Wienerwald in Austria and you can check the feed via iTunes or on their site. Enjoy and catch you all next week. Hey folks no new mix this week as I continue to promote my Bench WHP Competition mix on MixCloud. In any case there were two mixes dropped last week so you should be fine! Please listen below if you haven't already or check it out again it you have, favor it or leave a comment please. All interaction is great. I'll look to drop the extended version very soon. Enjoy.

playjazzloud goes house (again)

So I always like a challenge and over at MixCloud they are running another competition (last one I entered was their BBE mix tape comp and you can check the mix here) this time on a house tip. While my podcasts aren't known for house sounds I have been known to drop the 4/4 beats since house & garage is a big part of the record collection.

It seems like most folks are throwing down tech house, electro house, techno and other less than playjazzloud sounds so obviously I'm taken it upon myself to drop something that fits what they are after but that is undoubtedly part of the playjazzloud sound. The rules of the competition are for a 30 min mix (which is what I've done) but that's just not enough for me so I kept going and there will be a full extended (1:20 min) mix that I will release in a week or so. I need your help to at least make my entry respectable and not get drowned out by all the harder sounding mixes, so listen (more than once if you can!) and favor the mix! Recommend me in the house category.

Thanks for your support and please spread this around people, spread it around! Look out for the extended music w/ Theo Parrish, Ame, Henrik Schwarz, Actress, Radiohead and much more.

East Village Loft Society - Manhattan Anthem

Wagon Cooking - Start to play (Christian Prommer Remix)

Rainer Truby - Es Lo Que Pasa

Black Science Orchestra - Save Us (The Jam Album Version)

Johnick - Home storm

Robert Ownes - So into you (Dennis Ferrer Mix)

Talvin Singh - Vikram the Vampire (FK Mix)

Underworld - Push (Roger S Mix)

A Hundred Birds - Black Water

runtime 32 mins

Sorry no download available as you know its a competition so I'm trying to make everyone listen via the MixCloud player above as that's where the plays are counted.

playjazzloud sessions vol. 59

Starting out this week with some new music from UNKLE that's for a ski movie soundtrack and from there anything goes. A couple of great pop tunes I'm really into right now, Theophilus' "Humdrum Town" and Mark Ronson's "The Bike Song" from his new album that dropped recently. Also new music form John Legend and The Roots as well as anyone track from Jose Gonzales' project Junip. I dropped a great Nacny Wilson track that I'd never heard before and thanks to The Hedonist and his regular show on UK Jazz Radio.com for introducing me to that track. Enjoy. Listen below or download directly from here.

UNKLE - Lives of the artists
The Dybbuk Quartet - Amharicity
Gil Scott-Heron - Johannesburg
Sahib Shihab - Please don't leave me
Junip - To the Grain
Nancy Wilson - Wives and Lovers
Haftor Medboe Group - Leaving Nothing as we leave
Dwight Trible & The Life Force Trio - Try Love
Steely Dan - The Fez (Laura Ingalls WFT is a Fez mix)

playjazzloud sessions vol. 58

It's an almost all jazz week and I hope you'll dig it. Strangely enough looking at the tracklist I realise out of the 13 tracks this week 4 of them feature artists with the word "orchestra" in the name and given how the Janelle Monáe track sounds it may as well be called the Janelle Monáe Orchestra! I hope you enjoy this week's selection and thanks to all those supporting the podcast over at MixCloud, keep listening and upping the play counts, drop in with a comment and favor the mix if it's hits the spot. Also stayed tuned as I should be able to announce new developments with the podcast with a cool online radio station in the forthcoming weeks. Aside from listening right here there are so many other ways to keep playjazzloud on your online radar, find me on facebook, twitter, MixCloud, SoundCloud, and over at the Basement Sessions Podcast! Enjoy until next week. Listen below or check this link for direct download.

Milan Stojanovic - Bag's Groove
Sathima B. Benjamin - Africa
